Lilac, Miss Canada

Miss Canada Lilac

A hybrid cultivar that results from the crossings of S. villosa and S. reflexa.  Developed by Isabella Preston of Ottawa in the 1920’s.  These extremely hardy, late blooming lilacs flower in June, about two weeks after the S. vulgaris hybrids, extending the lilac season.  There leaves are thicker and more leathery than S. vulgaris.  They form dense, mounding shrubs from 6-12 feet in height.  Zone 2.
