About us
Fossil Creek Nursery was founded in 1969 on just one acre at the site of the McClelland Fruit Orchard on College Avenue just south of Harmony Road in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 1990 Jack and Christine Fetig purchased the nursery from the previous owners. Jack and Christine were the nursery's largest customer and already owned Alpine Gardens, a landscaping contracting firm that they had begun in 1978, so they had a great love of the horticulture industry and a sense of the history of the Nursery. They are both active in the business and with their three sons have worked to make this one of the premier nurseries in Colorado. In 1997 Fossil Creek Nursery was moved to its present beautiful site, fifteen aces situated on a hillside overlooking Benson Reservoir.

Using some of the best growers in the United States Fossil Creek Nursery grows its shrubs from rooted cuttings and bareroot plants supplied by some of the best growers in the United States. The shrubs we produce are large in size and flourish in Colorado and Wyoming's climates. We also carry a very large supply of balled and burlapped trees which are perfect for planting throughout the growing season. These trees are large enough to make it look like your landscape project has been growing in place for years. We also carry a large selection of annuals and perennials which are grown at our nursery in Greeley.

A unique service offered by Fossil Creek Nursery is bareroot plants. We offer a large selection of landscape size deciduous plants in late March and April. Buying these plants with no soil and container makes them much more affordable and easier to handle.
